Last week, as part of our holiday assistance program for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, officers from Midwest City Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, TRIAD volunteers, Oklahoma Recyclers Association and Sunbeam Family Services’ volunteers shopped for children being raised by their grandparent(s).
OKLAHOMA CITY – In partnership with Sunbeam Family Services, local law enforcement agencies and other community partners will make this holiday season brighter for children who are being raised by their grandparents. Through the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program (a program offered through Sunbeam’s Caregiver Fundamentals Program), grandparents, who are raising their grandchildren, had the opportunity to apply for holiday gift assistance for their grandchildren.
With the deadline looming, and a new legislative session about to begin, we feel it is important to meet with representatives of the Agriculture Department, State Lawmakers and Lobbyists for an open forum to discuss current and upcoming legislation.
Latrecia Smith is like most small-business owners. She’s always the first to arrive at work and the last to leave. “Miss Tee Tee” (as Smith is known at Tee Tee’s Tots in Spencer) opened her child care center at 5:30 on the morning of July 1, 2013.
Midway through her busy morning, Smith noticed it was unusually warm and stuffy inside. So she went out to check to see if the air conditioner unit was running. What she found was an empty shell. Over the weekend, someone had vandalized her AC unit to remove the copper.
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Midwest City Police Department, Oklahoma City Police Department, Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department, TRIAD volunteers, Sunbeam Family Services’ Caregiver Fundamentals Program and other community partners, provided holiday support to grandparents who are faced with the difficult challenge of raising their grandchildren.
